Councillor Patrick Nulty visits Dillon House

Blanchardstown Area Partnership was delighted to welcome Councillor Nulty, Deputy Mayor of Fingal County Council, to Dillon house this morning. Councillor Nulty was here to present certificates to students who have completed our English Language Training Programme – Action Team 5.
This pilot programme was funded by the Department of Social Protection and developed in collaboration with our partners Fingal Development Board Action 5 committee. The committee comprises representatives from FÁS, Department of Social Protection, Fingal LEADER Partnership, Fingal Development Board, and County Dublin VEC.
The programme was delivered over a twelve weeks period. Training took place five mornings per week Monday-Friday from 9.30 -1.00pm and amounted to a total of 210 hours training over the duration of the course.
Congratulations to all those who completed the programme and to the staff and tutors who worked on it.

Modules covered in Course/Programme:
- English language training to include reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Training in language to support job seeking, career planning and preparation for interviews.
- Cross Cultural Awareness: This module explores the differences and similarities between the learner’s culture and the culture of the host county in vocational and workplace contexts.
- The World of Work: Highlights the expectations, features and requirements within the Irish workplace.
- IT Training: basic computer familiarisation, Introduction to Keyboard skills, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Introduction to Internet and Email.
- Job seeking skills module will include the following:
- Curriculum Vitae Preparation
- Interview Skills
- Telephone Skills
- Communication skills
- Mock Interviews
- 1:1 advice and guidance on career opportunities, further education and mainstream training available.
