Strategies

  • To monitor the development, implementation and critically assess the impact of actions.
  • To agree any changes to the approved programme of activities and adjust as necessary.
  • To review learning from actions and use to inform policy.
  • Training courses to develop skills for self employment.
  • Support for new enterprises.
  • To prioritise issues from the BAP plan that the PIB will strategically develop.
  • To influence local, regional and national policy that impacts on economic development in Blanchardstown.
  • To act as a forum for members to bring issues of strategic importance for the PIB to the table.
  • To proactively target the long-term unemployed and those most distant from the labour market to explore their self-employment options
  • To support unemployed people to develop the personal and vocational skills necessary to develop self-employment options through the provision of continuous training/education opportunities
  • To influence state agencies to remove those anomalies that hinders the progression from welfare to self employment.
  • To support BAP clients when they developed their enterprise idea so as maintain their progression and improved standard of living.
  • The enterprise service will expand its outreach and access services through continued networking with relevant groups and integration with LES services
  • The enterprise service will focus more of its work in disadvantaged neighbourhoods working with groups to develop social enterprises to respond to local needs. BAP will play a leading role in co-ordinating existing enterprise support services to respond effectively to the needs of the most excluded
  • Monitoring of all BAP supported services to assess the participation of target groups will continue. If required tailored programmes will be developed for specific target groups such as people with disabilities, Travellers, lone parents and asylum seekers/refugees.
  • BAP will identify the financial issues/barriers impacting the progression of people from welfare to self employment.
  • When identified BAP will lobby to influence changes to remove these barriers and promote the potential of Blanchardstown as a pilot area for testing policy changes.
  • BAP will work with state agencies locally and with national lobby groups to develop innovative responses to the anomalies that create barriers to welfare to self employment.
  • BAP will also lobby to influence changes to remove the barriers created by social welfare allowances at local and national level, working with groups such as the Income Maintenance Group
  • BAP will play a role in continuing the support of clients who have established their own business.
