"Supporting local long term unemployed people in accessing, education, training and work opportunities"

Back in 1997 and 1998, following extensive consultation, Blanchardstown Area Partnership opened the doors of LES / Joblink in 4 key locations within the local area. Those areas are, Blakestown, Corduff, Mountview and Mulhuddart.

Throughout the years LES / Joblink has registered over 3,000 clients and worked with those clients through one to one mediation and guidance or group based supports like The Jobs Club or Special Education and Training Courses.

LES / Joblink has co-ordinated, supported and delivered a number of training courses since 1997. Courses like Fastrack to Technology (FIT), Forklift Training Courses, Pathways, Preparation for Work, Future Options, and lately various course in co-operation with FAS and Blanchardstown Training Services.

Bringing the service to all people and areas of the Blanchardstown community has always been a priority for LES / Joblink. Outreach events have helped to increase the profile of the service and welcome new clients. Leaflet drops, promotional events, local advertising and satellite mediation services have all formed part of the Outreach activity.

Significant to LES / Joblink and its successes remains the strong working relationships with key statutory agencies and community organisations as well as the local employer base. This networking, consultation and collaboration has been crucial to the ongoing work of LES / Joblink.

The staff of LES / Joblink are to be commended for remaining committed and dedicated to providing a people centred service.

LES / Joblink milestones include:-

  • Over 3,000 local people registered with LES / Joblink to date.
  • Over 2,000 local people have progressed to education, training or work.
  • The introduction of the LES Jobs Club in 1999.
  • The occupancy of Dillon House as a location for the service in 2002.
  • Introduction of Fast Track to Information Technology (FIT) Courses in 1999.
  • Initiation of Core Skills in 1998.
  • Established the Blanchardstown LES Network in 2002.
  • Core partners in the Blanchardstown EQUAL Initiative 2001 to date.
  • Engagement with National Employment Action Plan (NEAP) in 2004 to date.
  • Delivery of Support Programme for People with Disabilities 2003 through Blanchardstown EQUAL Initiative
  • Negotiated 450 FAS training places for Blanchardstown in 2004

While there may be many more people in work now than when LES / Joblink was established, there are still many people within Dublin 15 who experience difficulty in accessing employment opportunities.

As LES / Joblink moves forward, its aim remains the same, to provide a gateway, or access point, to the full range of opportunities available, to help a long term unemployed person return to work.
