    "My Job Club Experience"
By Mark Ward, Former Job Club Participant.

I reluctantly went to the Job Club, rather apprehensive about how it could help me or serve any purpose to get back to work.

I arrived on my first day and was warmly welcomed by the Co-ordinator, Maura and introduced to the other participants which put me at ease immediately.

Maura informed us what to expect from the Job Club and asked us in turn if we needed help in a particular area in order to overcome difficulties each of us could face.

I spoke to Maura and told her that I knew what I wanted to do, though I did not think it was possible. My ambition is to work with young people from disadvantaged of dysfunctional backgrounds. Maura encouraged me to follow my dream and helped me to do so.

I am now working on CE in the community, I will be going to College in September to study Youth and Community. I also coach youth at football with the community.

The Job Club format, the help and encouragement I got from the Co-ordinator combined, helped me get on course to a career I did not think possible. I learned skills and became aware of what is available out there and not to restrict myself to settling for any job just for the sake of it.

I am very grateful for all I have learned in the Job Club and would highly recommend it.

    Jobs Club Attendees

The Jobs Club takes place over a 2 week period; Monday to Friday from 9.30am - 12.30pm.

There is also a drop-in one-to-one service available in the afternoons.

The Jobs Club brings together unemployed people of all ages and backgrounds who have a genuine interest in finding work.

You can work together and share experiences with the other Jobs Club members. This will help in removing any feeling you have in being alone in your efforts to find employment.
