The culmination of many months of study and work was celebrated on the IBM Campus Damastown recently when 22 students from 13 different countries graduated from the Ready Steady Go Training Programme organised by Blanchardstown Local
Employment Service / Joblink.
The graduation day also marked the the launch of two recruitment guide books aimed at both job seekers looking for work and employers interested in recruiting staff in the Dublin 15 area.
Arriving into the IBM Campus Auditorium the participants were greeted by the lilting tones of the Discover
Gospel Choir following which they were welcomed by Mary Dunne Diversity Specialist with IBM. She explained how the Ready Steady Go Project is very much in line with IBM’s global ethos which is about cherishing diversity and encouraging inclusion for all.
Terry McCabe deputy manager of Blanchardstown Area Partnership along with the project staff from the Local
Employment Service/Joblink introduced the Ready Steady Go Project.
Michael Daly, General Manager of IBM Ireland enthusiastically launched the Ready Steady Go Recruitment booklets for employers and jobseekers. The event concluded with Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Michael O’Donovan congratulating
the 22 proud students and presenting them with their certificates.
The Ready Steady Go Project, funded by Blanchardstown LES/Joblink, Blanchardstown Area Partnership, IBM, the
Department of Social and Family Affairs and the VEC, comprised two separate parts. Firstly there were two training courses each of 6 weeks duration which focused on job seeking skills and workplace English.
The second part of the project involved the production of two recruitment booklets. The recruitment booklets
were put together with the advice of local employers and agencies. The guide books are excellent resource tools which outline local services and recruitment/job seeking advice which can support jobseekers and employers alike in the current challenging job market.
