The stretch of road from Wrights Anglers Rest to the Strawberry Hall will be closed to traffic giving families a unique opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the area, which made it a holiday hotspot in simpler times. The significant cultural heritage of the area, dating back to the late 19th century, is also celebrated with walking tours, cycling, horse and cart trips, jazz and traditional music along the route. The day will celebrate the contemporary with demonstrations from local sports clubs, craft stalls and as much music and performers as could be wished for. And of course there will be copious amounts of strawberries and lashings of cream.
There will be a Family Fun Picnic on the community field near the Wren's Nest, with face painting, family dog competition, balloons etc Music and special guests to be confirmed!
... and of course more strawberries and cream.
Blanchardstown Area Partnership is organising the Strawberry Fair as part of the Gathering 2013, in conjunction with the Strawberry Beds Residents’ Association. The community field has been made available by kind permission of the Strawberry Beds Community Centre. The event is supported by Fingal County Council, Castleknock Hotel and Country Club, Wrights Anglers Rest and the Strawberry Hall.
